As they say, two things in life are certain: death and taxes. Because of Jesus’ resurrection the Christian can be sure of one more: their own resurrection.
Jesus’ death on the cross is a monumental, historical event. At the cross, Jesus bares the sins of the world in order for mankind to be reconciled to God. When confronted with the death of Jesus, one can either bow down in faith or mock him and pass by.
On Good Friday we see Christ dying for our sins, bleeding for our salvation. Simultaneously we’re given a model for the Christian life and church community.
Perhaps Jesus’ most famous word from the cross is: “It is finished.” What did he mean? How does that help us, living through global and personal turmoil?
