Christ came to earth being fully human, therefore was he able to sin like the rest of mankind? How was he able to remain sinless yet fully man?
Was Christ Able To Sin?
If there was ever a chance of Jesus sinning, there was a chance of God not being God.
“The truth from a biblical standpoint is that sinning isn’t an essence of being human. It is an essence of fallen humanity. For God did not originally create Adam and Eve in a fallen state with sin. Therefore, the final human, Jesus, who came to save fallen humanity was very human because he didn’t sin.”

Christ Was Tempted
That is not an easy question, but the answer is yes, and no. First, yes, why? Because the truly human Christ came into this world and was likewise faced with the temptations that all human beings face. See the circumstances that lead to the various temptations and tempting scenarios that you and I face were also present in Jesus’s life. But Hebrews 4:15 tells us that though they were present in his life, he never sinned.
The circumstances that lead to the various temptations and tempting scenarios that you and I face were also present in Jesus’ life.
Jesus Never Sinned
That leads me to the second one which is, no. Because although Christ was truly human like us, he was uniquely not like us. At Christmas we like to celebrate the incarnation or the putting on of humanity of God the Son. Jesus was the second person of the one God who became a human being. Jesus not only began his humanity at his conception, yes, he did that but he did not stop or has never stopped being divine. Which meant, he erred in any of the things he did.
God Cannot Sin
You see, in John 4:34 we are told that all of Jesus’s actions were perfectly in line with the will of God the father. That’s not like any of us. In other words, if there was ever a chance of Jesus sinning, there was a chance of God not being God. Because James 1:13 tells us that God cannot sin. So, no, Jesus the divine Son couldn’t sin.
If there was ever a chance of Jesus sinning, there was a chance of God not being God.
Was Jesus Fully Human?
But some of you may then say, he wasn’t truly human if he couldn’t sin. Well, see the truth from a biblical standpoint is that sinning isn’t an essence of being human. It is an essence of fallen humanity. For God did not originally create Adam and Eve in a fallen state with sin.
The truth from a biblical standpoint is that sinning isn’t an essence of being human, it is an essence of fallen humanity.
Therefore, the final human, Jesus who came to save fallen humanity was very human because he didn’t sin. And therefore, according to Romans 8:29-30, all those who follow Jesus are predestined to a life without sin. That is, to be truly human as God intended.
